Dr. Scholten's research interests are related to enhancing physical performance by manipulating training methods.  More specifically, he has recently published on the effects that ischemic preconditioning has on anaerobic performance measured by vertical jump, 40m dash, and other explosive activities.  Currently, he is collecting data using aerobic tests such as a 3 minute cycling time trial, 800-1600m runs, and 200-400 yard swims.  All his research involves using human participants to assess performance improvements applicable to sport.
