2020 SD BRIN Convocation - Online Event

SD BRIN will host the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Convocation as an online event on Saturday, September 12, 2020.

Undergraduate researchers are expected to submit an online Video Poster presentation (details below) and participate in a panel Q & A discussion.  The Video Posters will be open for viewing two weeks prior to the online convocation event.  Between August 29th and September 11th, students and faculty will be required to watch and evaluate at least 5 video poster presentations, 3 of which will be assigned, 2 of which are the viewer's choice.  The online convocation event will consist of panel question and answer discussions with the presenters grouped as panels based on research topics.  A panel schedule will be sent out prior to the event.  Students and faculty will attend the panels for their assigned video posters, and may attend any other panels they choose.

Important Dates

  • Friday, August 7, 2020:  Title and Abstract due to campus liaisons
  • Friday, August 21, 2020:  Video Poster presentations due to campus liaisons

Video Poster

Students will be asked to create a Video Poster presentation (5 minutes or less) that displays each poster section as a slide or other visual, and contains voice-over narration of the slides.  Video Poster presentations will be submitted to the campus liaisons as .mp4 files.  We recommend using Screencast-O-Matic.  A video demonstration on how one could use Screencast-O-Matic to record .mp4 video posters for SD BRIN Convocation is being created and will be sent to liaisons soon.

All Video Poster files must be submitted no later than August 21, 2020 so that they can be posted on the symposium site.  In addition to creating a virtual presentation that will be posted, each presenter will be asked to participate in a panel discussion that will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in order to answer questions posted by viewers.
