Pierre, S.D. - Mount Marty College undergraduate research student, William Lawrence, represented SD BRIN at the 2016 Student Research Poster Session on Tuesday, March 1 in the Capitol Rotunda.  The poster session is an annual event where undergraduate students from South Dakota's public, private, and tribal colleges and universities can showcase their research.

 

William Lawrence is a junior Biology and Pre-Professional studies major at Mount Marty College.  William is a member of the Cross Country and Track teams, as well as a member of the Ambassadors.  He also volunteers in the Emergency Department at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital.  Upon graduating, William plans to enlist in the military and go on to become a surgeon for the armed forces.  He participated in the SD BRIN Undergraduate Research Fellows Program where he worked in the Department of Chemistry at Mount Marty College with Dr. Chun Wu.  William presented his research, "Kinetic Evaluation of Novel Inhibitor of Acetate Kinase from Methicillin-Restrain Staphylococcus aureus MU 50 Strain".
