South America - The Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) staff, Dr. Eduardo Callegari and Maria Daniela Paez, B.S., were invited to teach two international Proteomics courses ("Proteomics techniques: applications and bioinformatics analysis of data" and "Proteomics analysis and potential applications" respectively) for masters and Ph.D. students as well as faculty and other professionals at two universities in South America. Each course was a great success according to the feedback and surveys provided by the attendees which had more than 30 students in each course. The topics covered were not only related with concepts in Proteomics and Bioinformatics tools, but also extended to experimental design, protocols, data generation, and handling, analysis and statistics, organization, visualization, as well as consulting and advice in preparation for either peer-reviewed journals and/or grant applications. The travel was sponsored by an international grant related to Bioremediation, National Scientific and Technology Council Research from Argentina (Dr. Callegari is Co-PI responsible for the international part) and SD BRIN. The PCF staff has taught six international Proteomics courses outside of the USA over the last 10 years.
