Vermillion, SD - SD BRIN hosted the 17th Annual Lawrence Brothers Science Camp from July 8-13, 2018 on the University of South Dakota campus. This year's theme was, "The Science of Sports". Throughout the week, the students attended the following sessions; Gels for Medicine Delivery and Wound Healing, The Science Behind a Perfect Football Kick, The Flight of Baseball, Concussions, Exercise and Heart Rate, Energy Demands in Sports: How Do We Move, and Vision in Sports and Splinting Hand Injuries. The students also participated in a scavenger hunt, campus tour, and a Lego robot challenge. In the evenings, the students played basketball at the wellness center, went swimming at the new Vermillion pool, saw a movie at the Coyote Twin Theatre, and enjoyed a Party and Movie night at the residence hall. The week ended with a closing brunch and group presentations that families were welcomed to attend. Thanks to all of the USD faculty and staff who volunteered to facilitate activities for the campers and to the USD students and Ms. Job who led the campers thoughout the week.
